Rangsit University’s missions has been to continually develop the quality of education through research and development in order to broaden knowledge and stimulate innovation that meet and serve the needs of society and the nation.
Towards attaining this mission and to foster an environment of learning and sharing, Rangsit University is organising the RSU National and International Conference on the 29th of April 2016 and the theme for this even is “Innovation for Competitiveness and Quality of Life”.
Under the aegis of this conference, the Faculty of Art and Design is organising its 4th International Design Symposium entitled “Art & Design for Life” in collaboration with the Art & Design Dean Council of Thailand, and a worldwide committee and participation from Thailand, China, HongKong, United Stated of America, the Netherlands etc.
The Faculty of Art & Design at Rangsit University would like to invite designers, artists, researchers, thinkers, innovators and makers from various disciplines to join us and share their research, processes, art projects, views and opinions on how design plays an important role in the quality of life.
The way in which we live varies a lot depending on the our economy, our cultures shaping our views of this world, socio-economic conditions, market trends etc. All of these, which vary over time, become the foundations for the creative processes of design.
The research question, analysis and synthesis for the design process not only has a goal, of coming up with an innovative solution in the form of a concrete object in response to a given problem, but also to develop an inner sense and perception of everything around us in an abstract way.
Complexity and diversity is the key to the design process and it primarily gets inspired by the contexts within which we live and how we perceive it in a creative manner.
Boundaries between disciplines or forms of expression are fast disappearing. Representational media like painting, photography, graphic design, multimedia, mixed media are seamlessly being integrated with works that that are more related to our physical part of living such as fashion design, product design, furniture design, interior design etc. and they in turn are related to architecture and urban planning of the cities and towns we inhabit.
Considering the rich and diverse complexity of relationships between innovative design and the quality of life, the International Design Symposium will be a platform for artists, designers, thinkers, innovators, and faculty members from various disciplines to further explore and share these research topics.
Objectives
To develop the quality of creative design works.
To provide the knowledge and share progress of creative design works.
To stimulate and create an environment for knowledge sharing and interaction.
